How Double O Quilt Guild began….
On Oct. 8th, 1987, in the evening , Kaye Yuckin and Donna Pringle invited people interested in quilting to a meeting up at the Oliver Library Reading Room to decide whether there was enough interest to try to form a quilting guild. Twelve people showed up. Their decision was yes, and this ad was the result.

Oct. 19 – Mon. 9:30 – 11:30 am at Oliver Library – a meeting for anyone interested in quilting. Everyone welcome.
From this tiny notice, by word of mouth, and a handful of posters, the original twelve interested people and others showed up. Each person jumped right in and began work on the first guild quilt, the Shoo Fly. Everyone agreed to share whatever skills they had, and the rest is history. Because of the variety of other artistic and needlework skills in the group, as well as the variety of levels of quiltmaking skills, the group soon became a formidable body of talent and attracted quilters from far and wide. It covered an area from Keremeos to Osoyoos, to Penticton and Summerland, and still does, now adding Oroville as well.
The first twelve people who met on Oct. 8th were:
Kaye Yuckin, Donna Pringle, Linda Poznikoff, Carol Lydiatt, Maria Fontinha, Roma Pederson, Greta Westby, Art O’Keefe, Hilda Simpson, Cheryl Reid, Angela Kwasnica, Ethel Jones.
