Monday, Sept 28 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Oliver Community Center Meeting Rooms 1 & 2
The purpose of this event is to encourage members of the community to try quilt making and to join the guild. We have received a Neighborhood Grant to make placemats for Meals on Wheels and Desert Sun with the public participating. To this end, we are asking you to invite your friends and neighbors who might be interested in giving quilt making a try to come and try out the tools and techniques while stitching up quilt-as-you-go placemats.
We will need volunteers for the following jobs:
8 - 10 sewers with sewing machines equipped with a walking foot.
At least 10 other people for jobs e.g. welcoming visitors, teaching new quilters to use rotary cutters, rulers, stitching 1⁄4” seams, choosing strips, ironing, pinning etc.
We also need your precut ironed strips, the mug rugs you made over the summer for visitors at this event, and your company if you want to come down to visit and help.
Strips should be 100% good quality cotton, ironed, and cut 1 1⁄2” – 3” x 13.5” or longer. Prints and plains are good. Leftover project strips, quilt trimming strips, large prints, whatever you have on hand will be good. We will be sorting them to color beforehand so please turn them in to Darlene at 923 Panorama Cres. any time. She has a box by her front door.
If you are interested in baking something NOT STICKY for this event, we would be tickled to receive it. There will be water and light snacks available for everyone. Sorry, but the hall kitchen will not be available so no coffee. Bring your own please. This is a no-stress day for everyone to enjoy.
